What’s New in Artwork Finder v1.0 beta 2
This update brings new ways to add artwork to your media, more control over saved images, and better tools for automating larger libraries. Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback since the first beta!
New Features
-
Add artwork directly to your files. Drag a file onto an image in Artwork Finder to embed that artwork. You can also drop several files at once — ideal for adding high-resolution artwork to an entire album of MP3s.
Supported formats:
- MP3:
.mp3
- MPEG-4 audio:
.m4a (AAC and Apple Lossless)
- MPEG-4 audiobooks:
.m4b
- MPEG-4 video:
.mp4, .m4v
- FLAC:
.flac
- AIFF:
.aif, .aiff
- Matroska:
.mkv, .mka, .mk3d, .mks
- Bulk updates for Movies and TV Shows. Update artwork for multiple movies or TV shows in one go. Requested by Robert M.
- Browse an artist’s albums. Use the new “View Albums” button on an artist result to see their albums, ordered from newest to oldest. You can still search for an artist by name in the Albums tab, but “View Albums” keeps the results specific to that artist. Requested by Ruben B.
- Artist logos. Artist search results now include the artist logos introduced in iOS 27. Requested by Tyler D.
More Control over Your Artwork
- Custom filenames. Choose how filenames are generated when you save artwork or drag it out of the app. Requested by Ruben B.
- New Output settings. Automatically convert PNG images to JPEG, either every time or only when they exceed a size threshold. You can also compress JPEG images above a chosen size to keep larger downloads manageable. Requested by Ruben B.
Better Shortcuts
- New “Get Library Artist URLs” action. Retrieve artist URLs from your music library to use in Shortcuts — including automations that download artwork for the artists in your collection. Requested by Brian G.
- Keep automations running when a lookup fails. The find and download actions now offer an “Ignore Failures” option, so a single unsuccessful item won’t stop a shortcut working through hundreds or thousands of artists.
Improvements
- More search results. Additional results now load as you scroll, where available.
- Redesigned Settings. A refreshed layout makes the app’s options easier to browse.
- Interface refinements. Improved padding and headings throughout the app, and corrected icon alignment in the sidebar.
- Clearer URL drag and drop. URLs can now be dropped directly onto the search bar, rather than anywhere in the window.
- Built-in updates. Added automatic updating and settings to control update checks. Beta 3 will be delivered through the new updater.
Fixes
- Fixed the “Purchased” feature failing to work with TV libraries upgraded by macOS Golden Gate.
- Fixed searching by URL for Movies, TV Shows, and Box Sets.
